WE GIVE DEATH THE FINGER

We give death the finger
with each good meal,
each good beer,
each good song.
Knowing the game is fixed,
knowing there's no way out,
we give death the finger.
When we laugh,
we laugh in its face.
It's all we can do.
It's what we must do,
everyday.
We give death the finger
with each good coffee,
each good movie,
each good story,
we're doing it now.

AMELIA EARHART

It was never enough to be normal.
She was most alive off the earth,
flying over a man's world.
The first woman to fly solo
across the Atlantic.
The first human to fly solo
from Hawaii to the US mainland.
But it wasn't enough.
She died trying
to fly around the world,
died doing what she loved,
not being normal.
